American fans may notice the USA does not have a team in the tournament. That is because the youthful American team did not get selected to take part in the multi-game tournament as the team selection process started in 2017. The USA simply did not play enough matches to qualify for this tournament. The U.S. team simply had too many inexperienced players who play soccer in a sub-standard league.

Aside from DeAndre Yedlin, who now plays with Newcastle United F, C., not strong in terms of depth within the squad. This team lost the experience of Landon  Don0van and Brad Friedel

On the sideline, Friedel is an American soccer coach who is the head coach of Major League Soccer team New England Revolution.  A retired American professional soccer player who played as a goalkeeper. Friedel played 82 games for the United States national team between 1992 and 2005 and represented his country at three FIFA World Cup tournaments.
As the tournament moves through the first round into the second round defending champion Germany is clearly a media and favorite to repeat as world champions again this year.

And this blogger looks for Germany to repeat as FIFA 2018 champions and walk away with back-to-back World Cup titles. Despite the fact that the squad went down in defeat to Mexico in the opening fixture of play. Looking at this teams history the squad tends to strengthen and become resilient as competition play advances,
Looking at the field of teams in the tournament this summer the 3 biggest underdogs with a title shot is England, Belgium or France. Spain will do nothing after sacking their manager on the eve of competition.   Brazil has a shallow team and Cristiano  Ronaldo cannot carry Portugal all on his own to the finals
Getting back to tournament favorite Germany. Germany’s loss is Joachim Low testing the water against a worthy South American opponent, call it a tester for playing Brazil. Low now knows where and how to defend against a fast-moving attack, therefore countering the threat of Neymar.
Well, that’s my take and predictions on the hottest sporting event of the summer the FIFA World Cup tournament match play. Soccer fans of Texas enjoy viewing the rest of this summer’s tournament.
